By popular demand we’re delighted to offer a number of parking spaces for guests to self-launch their own paddle craft. Although 10.5 miles long and a mile wide, the Windermere shoreline is predominantly privately owned and so the opportunities for launching your own paddleboards, kayaks and canoes are limited. Coupled with this, the public slipways and launch points can be busy in the summer months and detract from the quiet escapism that you may seek. We’ve decided, for this season, to share some of our gorgeous space with you, to 'park and paddle'. Your ticket is a half day pass, either 9am - 1pm or 1pm - 5pm. The car park is 25m from the lake shore so no big carries are necessary.
There are a few rules:
- Your ticket allows for 1 car, the car’s occupants and the paddle craft you carry with you.
- This offer is for paddleboards, kayaks and canoes only and does not include trailered boats that would require a slipway.
- We strive to run a waste-free site and so all rubbish must be taken away with you and disposed of responsibly.
- We run our watersports business from the site and respectfully ask you to launch without getting in the way of our other guests or business operations.
- Parking and launching must be pre-booked and may not always be available on the same day particularly when the sun's shining!
- This offer is open to private guests and not commercial operators.
- Graythwaite Adventure and Graythwaite Estate accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to your personal equipment whilst on Graythwaite Estate.
- Self-launch guests must be competent and responsible for their own safety whilst on the water. No safety cover is either implied or provided for guests booking the 'Park and Paddle' option.
- You must come and say hello to our team on arrival before launching.
We have a selection of RED paddleboards, single and double sit on top kayaks and canoes available to hire should you wish to add to what you bring. Wetsuits are available to hire at £5.00 each and we have a full range of adult and junior sizes. There are picnic tables and a lovely grassed area next to the water if you'd like to bring a picnic. Tea, coffee and cans are available to buy at the watersports lodge. Many thanks and we look forward to seeing you on the water!
Guests to Graythwaite Adventure can enjoy a variety of other awesome experiences too; 4x4 off-road driving, clay pigeon shooting, archery, axe throwing, bushcraft and RIB boat tours.
